Police operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command have apprehended a Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) officer with a large stash of firearms and ammunition.
The arrest occurred on Monday afternoon in the Zuma area of the city.
The officer, whose identity has not been released, is currently being interrogated after failing to offer a satisfactory explanation for the weapons’ possession or their intended destination.

Authorities suspect the officer may have been involved in an illegal arms deal with criminals.
The arrest followed a tip-off from informants concerning a missing person, which led to the discovery of the weapons.
Among the recovered items were multiple rifles and pistols, including two CZ Scorpion rifles, four AK-47 magazines, two Diakon pistols, and over 100 rounds of ammunition.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, confirmed the suspect’s detention to The Nation, stating that the officer is currently being interrogated. He assured the public that further details will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
