Date:

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria has ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Nigeria Police Service Commission (PSC) to pay Police Constabularies the salaries owed to them for nearly four years, dating back to 2021.

In a landmark ruling delivered on Wednesday, Justice Rakiya Haastrup instructed that each Constabulary receive N54,566 per month from January 2021 to May 2024.

The case, filed by the Constabularies against the IGP and the PSC, was led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Senastine Hon.

Along with the salary payments, the court also mandated the issuance of formal letters of employment and Certificates of Engagement to the Constabularies, who had been trained, provided with uniforms and boots, and deployed across various states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This ruling ensures that the rights of the Constabularies are upheld, addressing long-standing concerns regarding their employment and compensation.
