Afrobeat star Davido has apologised to the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, CP Mohammed Umar Abba, following his earlier public criticism over the political unrest in the state.
Davido had initially called out the commissioner, urging him to uphold the rule of law and warning him not to “try” him amid the ongoing crisis in Osun.
However, the Grammy-nominated singer later took to X (formerly Twitter) to express regret for his comments, acknowledging that his emotions had taken over in response to the tragic loss of lives in the state.

In his apology, Davido acknowledged CP Abba’s dedication to maintaining law and order in Osun State and praised the efforts of the security agencies in keeping peace within the region.
He wrote: “In memories of the innocent souls lost, human emotions overwhelmed me and many of my friends around. We did not know the Commissioner of Police had been having sleepless nights alongside other commanders. At this point, the contributions of the police commissioner were not fully appreciated by me. This is a grave oversight, and I want to declare that his support for the rule of law and protection of peace in Osun state is hereby acknowledged and appreciated.
“I now see that the issue is more than that of the Commissioner of Police or other security chiefs. The needless killings of today angered me so deeply that I thought such should have been nipped in the bud. Yet, I can see that the security agencies led by the Commissioner of Police put in their best and deserve commendation.
