Two commissioners in Akwa Ibom State, Prof. Eno Ibanga (Works and Fire Service) and Emem Bob (Finance), have dismissed claims that they resigned following Governor Umo Eno’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.
Contrary to reports circulating over the weekend, both commissioners affirmed their continued commitment to the governor and his administration, declaring their full support for the recent political realignment.

Governor Eno’s defection, which was accompanied by the majority of his cabinet, federal and state lawmakers, and local government chairmen, was formally received by APC leaders, including Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, who hailed the move as a strategic boost for the party’s strength in the South-South region.
Prof. Ibanga, speaking through his information officer, Evelyn Ibanga, described the reports of his resignation as entirely false.
He accused unnamed individuals of attempting to sow discord within the administration through deliberate misinformation, calling the rumour “a product of mischief-makers trying to create political confusion and disrupt the cohesion of the government.”
Both commissioners reiterated their loyalty to Governor Eno and pledged to continue working towards the success of his administration under the APC platform.
He added: “It is a figment of the imagination of its orchestrators, who are clearly unsettled by the Commissioner’s unwavering performance and loyalty.
“Let it be stated for the records that Professor Eno Ibanga’s loyalty to Governor Umo Eno and the administration remains sacrosanct, resolute, and unquestionable.
“He continues to work tirelessly in support of the governor’s vision for infrastructural development and good governance in Akwa Ibom State.”
