Ekiti Chief Judge, Oyewole Adeyeye, dies at 64

Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, has died aged 64 at a tertiary healthcare facility in Ekiti following a brief illness.

While the specifics surrounding his death remain officially undisclosed, sources revealed he succumbed to his condition on Monday after a short hospitalisation.

Justice Adeyeye was appointed Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, by former governor Kayode Fayemi.

Born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986.

He began his legal career as a state counsel in the former Ondo State Civil Service before joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission after the state’s creation in 1996.

In 2002, he was elevated to the position of a judge in the Ekiti State High Court, a role he held with distinction, including serving on various election petition tribunals throughout his career.
