FCT police warn against alleged Okada rider attacks on task force

Date:

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a strong warning following reports of an alleged plan by commercial motorcyclists, commonly known as okada riders, to attack task force officials in the Kubwa area.

A voice note circulating on social media suggests that a group of motorcyclists has finalized plans to retaliate against FCT Task Force officials.

This alleged plot comes after a recent clampdown by the task force, which reportedly led to the impoundment of over 200 motorcycles.

In response, the FCT Police Command, through a statement released on Thursday night by spokesperson Josephine Adeh, declared that such actions constitute “criminality and will be met with the full weight of the law.”

Adeh emphasised that the command “will not hesitate to deploy all lawful means, including arrests, prosecution, and necessary force, to deal decisively with perpetrators of public disorder.”

The statement further underscored the police’s capacity and resolve to protect public officers, safeguard lives and property, and maintain law and order across the FCT.
