The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja has announced the suspension of its three-day warning strike.
The industrial action, which began on Tuesday, was initiated in protest against the termination of 127 healthcare workers and the non-payment of salaries owed to health personnel.

As part of their demands, the ARD had insisted on the unconditional reinstatement of the dismissed workers, immediate settlement of all outstanding wages, and the resignation of the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Dr. Emeka Ezeh.
The union had also issued a warning that a full-scale strike would follow if the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, failed to act on their demands by Friday.
Following an emergency virtual meeting held on Wednesday, ARD President Dr. George Ebong announced that the strike had been called off.
Dr. Ebong explained that the decision came after the FCT Administration reinstated the affected staff and disbursed part of the outstanding salaries.
Dr. Ebong further disclosed that the administration had pledged to address the remaining unmet demands while commending the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike and his team for their intervention.
“We called off the warning strike after some of our demands were met. Most of our members have received their unpaid salaries and have been reinstated. We strongly hope that the rest of the members affected are paid by tomorrow to prevent further disruption of work in the health sector.
“We thank the FCT Health Mandate Secretary, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, and Chidi Amadi, Chief of Staff to FCT Minister Wike, for their swift intervention,” he said.
