FG prohibits pilots from working with multiple airlines

Date:

The Federal Government, through the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has issued a warning to pilots and other flight crew members, prohibiting them from working for multiple airlines simultaneously.

According to the NCAA, this practice poses significant safety risks and constitutes a serious violation of its regulations.

In a circular issued on November 6, 2024, and addressed to all aircraft operators, Acting Director-General of NCAA, Chris Najomo, emphasised the prohibition.

Titled “Prohibition of Ad-Hoc Flight Operators for Multiple Airlines,” the circular noted that the NCAA had detected this unprofessional conduct through surveillance reports.

The NCAA clarified that its approved flight simulator training devices and facilities are designed for operator-specific training programs and standard operating procedures tailored to each airline, and thus cannot be shared among multiple employers.

The circular read, “With effect from the date of issuance of this directive, all operators and holders of pilot licences are informed that this action will be treated as a violation of the Nigeria Civil Aviation regulations.

“The authority will take appropriate enforcement action on violators of this directive, effective from November 11, 2024.

“Simulators renewals from henceforth will be filed to the operators.”
