Four young men of Nigerian descent have been sentenced for their involvement in a violent altercation in Leicester that occurred during the early hours of November 4, 2021.
The incident, which saw weapons including knives and a baseball bat used, spiraled into a brutal confrontation on New Park Street. One victim, an 18-year-old man, was left with multiple stab wounds and required urgent hospital care.
Following a thorough investigation, which included analyzing CCTV footage, tracking phone records, and issuing public appeals for information, the police were able to identify the suspects involved.
A six-week trial culminated in convictions and sentences handed down on November 14.
The sentences were as follows: Destiny Ojo, 21, of Plumstead, London, received seven years for violent disorder, attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH), and GBH with intent.
Habib Lawal, 21, of Bexley, London, was sentenced to five years for violent disorder, attempted GBH, and GBH with intent.
Ridwanulahi Raheem, 21, of Lambeth, London, was sentenced to three years for violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.

Joshua Davies-Ero, 21, of Bexley, London, received two years for violent disorder.
A fifth defendant, Justin Asamoah, 22, of Merton, had earlier pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and will be sentenced on November 22.
Detective Constable Sean Downey highlighted the seriousness of the situation, stating, “This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers posed by violent disorder. The outcome could have been far worse, and we are fortunate that no further injuries were inflicted, either on the individuals directly involved or innocent bystanders.”
He continued, “I want to express my gratitude to all those who contributed to this investigation. Our primary goal is the safety of the public, and we will continue to take a firm stance against violent crime in our communities.”
The case underscores the police’s commitment to holding those responsible for violent acts accountable and ensuring the safety of the public in Leicester and beyond.
