Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has suggested a possible reconciliation with his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following a prolonged political rift that destabilized governance in the state.
Speaking recently, Fubara expressed optimism about restoring peace, stating there was no reason why he and his “Oga” a term he used to refer to Wike should not reconcile.

The fallout between the two leaders began shortly after Fubara assumed office in 2023, leading to deep divisions within the state’s political structure.
The crisis disrupted the operations of key institutions, notably the Rivers State House of Assembly, and escalated to a point where President Bola Tinubu declared a six-month state of emergency in the state.
To stabilize the situation, the president appointed a Sole Administrator to oversee the affairs of Rivers State during the emergency period.
In a move toward reconciliation, Fubara recently held a meeting with President Tinubu and Wike.
Following the engagement, Wike acknowledged the meeting and referred to Fubara as his “son,” indicating a possible thaw in their strained relationship.
However, Fubara while addressing a group of his supporters in a video, Fubara said: “There is no reason why there won’t be peace between me and my Oga, we want peace so that Rivers will move forward.
“I want to plead with everyone, they said I’m not a politician but I don’t know what is the entry requirement for wanting to be a politician, but I know that what is most important in this life is respect that I earned and not respect that is being forced.
“I want to earn your respect by not bossing you but serving you. Feel free to tell me when I make mistakes.
“I need the support of everyone and we need the support of each other and again, I want to assure you that I’m with you completely.”
