“I fondly recall our many warm interactions, both at bilateral and multilateral levels. He was a steadfast partner in Liberia’s journey to recovery,” he said.
Buhari, who died in a London hospital after a period of undisclosed illness, served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023. His tenure was marked by an assertive anti-corruption agenda, regional security efforts, and key contributions to multilateral diplomacy across the continent.
Weah concluded his tribute by acknowledging Buhari’s impact on Nigeria’s political trajectory and resilience. “His longstanding contributions to Nigeria’s political life will remain a sobering reminder of the country’s resilience and democratic progress,” Weah remarked. “I extend my deepest sympathies to his family, as well as to the government and people of Nigeria.”
As tributes continue to pour in from global leaders, Buhari is being remembered not only as a Nigerian statesman but also as a towering figure in Africa’s modern democratic landscape.
