Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, celebrated his 62nd birthday in a solemn and contemplative manner by paying a visit to his late father, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf, at the Dandolo cemetery in Kano.
Sunusi Bature Dawaki Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, said in a statement that the visit was quite emotional. Former Kaduna Metropolitan representative in the regional parliament, Governor Yusuf honored his father, who was renowned for his honesty, devotion, and passion to public service.
In a touching homage, Governor Yusuf stated, “My father led an exemplary life, embodying service, humility, and an unwavering commitment to justice.” “His legacy will continue to guide me in all my endeavors.”

The governor also honored his mother, Malama Khadijatul-Naja’atu, a respected school teacher and renowned female Islamic scholar. Reflecting on her influence, he shared, “My mother taught me the values of education, faith, and compassion, which have shaped who I am today.”
Surrounded by family, aides, and close confidants, Governor Yusuf prayed for his parents at the gravesite, seeking Allah’s mercy and asking for them to be granted eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus.
Speaking on the importance of the visit, the governor said, “Celebrating my birthday at my father’s grave reminds me of where I come from and the values that define me.
“It is also a moment to renew my commitment to serving the people of Kano with the same dedication my father had for his community.”.
