Former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his financial upkeep is primarily supported by rental income from one of his two properties in Kaduna State, underscoring his commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.
Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting on January 25, held at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Katsina State’s Government House, Buhari shared personal insights into his finances and governance experiences, addressing the gathering in Hausa.
The former president disclosed that he owns just three properties: one in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, and two in Kaduna State. One of the Kaduna properties is rented out, providing him with the income needed to cover his day-to-day living expenses.
Buhari also reiterated his firm stance against corruption, emphasising that during his presidency, no one could accuse him of illicitly enriching himself.
“I ensured that I did not enrich myself through illegal means during my tenure,” he stated, reaffirming his dedication to integrity and accountability.
Reflecting on the challenges of governance, Buhari noted that many Nigerians do not fully appreciate the complexities of leading the country.
