A 40ft loaded container fell onto a Toyota Camry at Mile 2, along the Apapa route in Lagos State, on Monday, November 25.
The incident prompted an immediate response from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who worked together to rescue the driver, who was pulled out alive from beneath the container.
The victim received prompt medical care after being rushed to the hospital by the joint rescue team. In the aftermath, the Toyota Camry was successfully removed from under the container.

Efforts to clear the fallen container are ongoing, while LASTMA officers continue to manage the scene to alleviate traffic congestion and restore normal flow.
The Director of LASTMA’s Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, issued a statement confirming the details of the incident and highlighting the coordinated efforts of emergency responders.
Security during the operation was maintained by officers from the Kirikiri Police Division, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for the teams.
In the statement, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, emphasized the critical importance of securing containers properly to prevent such accidents.
He stressed that negligence in this area endangers lives and property, urging truck drivers and owners to adhere strictly to road safety regulations.
