The Kano State Government has suspended Ibrahim Rabiu, Special Adviser on Transport to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, following controversial comments he made about former Governor and Kwankwasiyya leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruq Ibrahim, described Rabiu’s remarks as “unsubstantiated and inappropriate,” adding that the suspension takes immediate effect.
The statement also confirmed that Rabiu has been served a query in accordance with civil service rules and disciplinary procedures.

According to the government, Rabiu’s comments alleging political meetings between Senator Kwankwaso and President Bola Tinubu and suggesting a possible return to the APC were made without evidence and amounted to a breach of official conduct and a personal attack on Kwankwaso.
“The utterances were not only inappropriate but also a violation of the principles guiding public service conduct,” the statement said.
In a separate statement, the Director-General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, Alhaji Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, emphasised that Rabiu’s views were entirely personal and did not reflect the position of the governor or the state government.
“We categorically disassociate the administration from those remarks,” Dawakin Tofa stated, adding that all political appointees must seek proper clearance before making public statements.
The government further cautioned all appointees to avoid unauthorised communications and reminded the public that only the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya, is authorised to speak on behalf of the government, while Dawakin Tofa speaks for the Governor.
Following the backlash, Ibrahim Rabiu publicly apologized to Senator Kwankwaso, describing his initial comments as a “work of the devil.”
He also clarified that he had no authorization to speak on behalf of the former governor.
