During those pivotal years, she became a prominent voice in the Buhari administration, known for her data-driven approach to economic matters and clear communication with the public on fiscal policies.
Her tenure coincided with challenging times for the Nigerian economy, including two recessions. Despite the turbulence, Adeosun played a key role in helping the administration navigate through these difficulties, introducing various economic reform measures aimed at stabilizing the financial landscape.
In her emotional tribute, Adeosun shared her appreciation for Buhari’s leadership and the influence he had on both her professional path and personal growth. She recalled how the late president often called her “Maikudi,” a nickname loosely translated as “the one that handles money” or “wealthy person.”
This affectionate term, she noted, was a reflection of the camaraderie and mutual respect they developed during her service in his cabinet.
Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve under him, Adeosun described her time in the Buhari administration as “the greatest honour” of her career.
She highlighted not just the professional lessons learned, but also the personal connection she formed with the late leader, calling it both a privilege and a pleasure.
Her tribute concluded with a moving farewell: “Good night, Your Excellency. Rest in Peace, Sir,” a sign-off that carried both finality and affection. She ended the message with “Maikudi,” underscoring the enduring significance of the bond they shared.
Adeosun’s tribute adds a deeply personal layer to the chorus of voices mourning Buhari’s passing, as many Nigerians continue to reflect on the former president’s influence and legacy.
