Lagos LG Polls: Delayed arrival of LASIEC officials slow voting in Ifako-Ijaiye

Date:

As of 9:28 a.m. on Saturday, officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) began arriving at various polling stations in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area, causing a delay in the voting process.

Despite a strong early turnout by residents—many of whom arrived at their designated polling units as early as 8:00 a.m.—voting and accreditation could not begin on time due to the absence of electoral officers, as reported by The Nation.

The late deployment of LASIEC personnel left voters waiting for hours, eager to participate but unable to proceed until officials arrived and began setting up the necessary election materials.

A large number of residents turned out early this morning, arriving at their respective polling units by 8:00 a.m. with the intention of casting their votes.

Despite the early enthusiasm, many were left waiting as electoral officials had not yet shown up to commence accreditation and voting procedures.

At the polling unit where the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate, Usman Hamzat, is expected to vote, the delay sparked concern among voters, who remained on standby hoping for a swift resolution.
