The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially issued certificates of return to winners of the recently concluded local government elections across the state’s 57 LGAs and LCDAs.
During the formal presentation ceremony on Wednesday, LASIEC Chairman Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile lauded voters, political stakeholders, and over 45,000 ad-hoc staff who played key roles in the successful conduct of the elections.

She acknowledged initial delays in the accreditation process but praised the effective interventions of security agencies in ensuring the elections were peaceful and orderly.
The presentation ceremony symbolized the formal start of a new political chapter for the incoming officials, whose four-year tenure will commence after the current administration ends on July 26, 2025.
Speaking after receiving his certificate, Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA Chairman-elect, Orebo Akindikpe Olaleko Olu, promised to expand on existing development initiatives, particularly focusing on food security.
He announced the introduction of “Ounje Ajegunle,” a subsidized food distribution program that will operate weekly across all wards.
He also vowed to maintain the annual security summit and complete ongoing road infrastructure projects in the area.
Similarly, Akeem Olalekan Dauda, Ikeja LGA chairman-elect, said his administration would prioritize opening up rural communities and improving basic infrastructure. He pledged to address the needs of women and children by focusing on primary education and healthcare.
Dauda also highlighted plans to address the issue of out-of-school children and promised to enhance environmental sanitation, while boosting grassroots economic empowerment.
In Ikorodu LGA, chairman-elect Lateef Adedayo said his leadership would concentrate on finishing abandoned rural road projects and fostering youth development through vocational training initiatives.
He also signaled interest in partnering with the federal government to further open up the region for economic growth.
The state government has urged the newly elected officials to deliver on their mandates and demonstrate integrity, commitment, and transparency in their dealings.
