Yemi Adaramodu, the spokesperson for the Senate, has criticized Kogi Central lawmaker Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for her public clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over a seat allocation dispute.
The disagreement erupted on Thursday when Akpoti-Uduaghan rejected a reassigned seat, citing Order 10 of the Senate Standing Rules to protect her privileges.
The reshuffle occurred after several opposition members defected to the ruling party, leading to changes in seating arrangements.
Akpoti-Uduaghan strongly resisted the move, accusing the Senate leadership of attempting to suppress her voice. During a tense exchange, she shouted at Akpabio, “I don’t care if I am silenced. I am not afraid of you. You have denied me my privilege.”
The heated confrontation escalated, prompting Akpabio to instruct the sergeant-at-arms to escort the Kogi senator from the chamber.
However, several lawmakers intervened to calm the situation.
In response to the incident, Adaramodu spoke on ‘Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily’, expressing his disappointment with the behavior displayed in the chamber.

He emphasised that the National Assembly should not be a forum for drama or entertainment and addressed Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims of being marginalised and bullied, reinforcing that the Senate is committed to maintaining decorum.
“What we are saying is that the national assembly is not for content creation or entertainment. National assembly is for serious business,” he said.
“If she is talking about being bullied or sidelined, as a first-timer, she even has three committees that she was appointed as chairperson.
“You are entitled to chair only one committee but she is in charge of foreign affairs, NGOs now.”
The senate spokesperson added that the upper legislative chamber would not revisit the drama after Isah Jubril, a Kogi lawmaker, apologised on Akpoti-Uduaghan’s behalf.
“The senate as a whole has already accepted that tendered apology, so we are not going to revisit that,” he added.
