Nigerian preacher and head of Jesus Dominion International (JDI), Timothy Omotoso, has been deported from South Africa after years of legal controversies and immigration issues.
A video released by SABC News showed Omotoso at O.R. Tambo International Airport, boarding a flight back to Nigeria.

His return comes after a prolonged legal saga that began with his arrest in 2017 on over 90 counts, including rape and human trafficking.
On April 2, 2025, the Eastern Cape High Court cleared Omotoso of 32 charges.
In her ruling, Judge Irma Schoeman criticized the prosecution’s management of the trial, noting that although the defense had inconsistencies and questionable claims, the prosecution did not establish its case with the certainty required for conviction.
Several of Omotoso’s accusers, many of them underage and affiliated with a gospel group he reportedly formed, alleged they suffered sexual abuse and were later forced into silence.
Despite the acquittal, Omotoso was detained again on May 10 for breaching immigration laws. His eventual release and removal from the country have reignited public debate in South Africa, with many still casting doubt on the judicial outcome of the case.
