The simmering political standoff between Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and former governor, now senator, Gbenga Daniel, escalated sharply on Monday amid speculation it is tied to the 2027 Ogun East Senatorial race.
Government officials sealed Daniel’s sprawling Sagamu residence — known as Asoludero Court — along with his nearby luxury Conference Hotel.

The enforcement team, from the Sagamu Zonal Planning Office, arrived in official vehicles, removed earlier contravention and quit notices, and replaced them with fresh sealing and demolition orders.
According to reports, the action was executed abruptly, with no advance warning to people within the properties. The development follows a contravention notice issued the previous Friday by the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority.
Authorities allege that both the mansion and hotel violated the 2022 Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning Law, having been built without proper approvals, required setbacks, or necessary permits.
A three-day ultimatum was reportedly given to remedy the breaches or face demolition.
Tensions deepened further after a large political poster promoting Abiodun’s rumoured 2027 senatorial campaign appeared directly opposite Daniel’s home, a move many locals interpreted as a calculated provocation.
Both politicians come from Ogun East Senatorial District and are expected to face off in 2027, with Daniel believed to be seeking re-election while Abiodun is widely tipped to challenge him for the seat.
