Former Oyo State governor and Olubadan-designate, Rashidi Ladoja, has made his return to Ibadan, drawing excitement among his loyal supporters.
Ladoja, a former senator, was welcomed at the Ibadan axis of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway by a large crowd of enthusiastic followers, who accompanied him in a long motorcade to his ancestral home at Isale-Osi.

His return had been eagerly awaited by residents and indigenes of the ancient city, many of whom had speculated about the timing of his arrival in recent weeks.
Although it is not yet certain how long the Olubadan-elect will remain at the family compound, reports indicate that numerous visitors have already begun trooping to his Ondo Street residence in Bodija, Ibadan, to pay homage and extend royal courtesies.
Breakingng.com had earlier reported that Ladoja was nominated by the Olubadan-in-Council as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
His nomination was proposed by the Balogun Olubadan, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and seconded by the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole, during a meeting of the Olubadan-in-Council held at the Oke-Aremo palace.
The development comes after the conclusion of the mandatory 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025, after just one year on the throne.
Olakulehin had succeeded Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Ladoja’s nomination marks a significant step toward his coronation as the 44th Olubadan, a highly revered traditional position in Ibadanland’s centuries-old chieftaincy system.
