Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has declared Monday, the day of his inauguration, as a public holiday to ensure residents can fully engage in the swearing-in ceremonies of both himself and his deputy, Olayide Adelami.
The announcement, made through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, emphasized that the holiday would give citizens the opportunity to actively participate in the historic event.

The inauguration celebrations kicked off on Friday with a special Jumat service held at the Akure Central Mosque, followed by a Church Thanksgiving Service on Sunday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House, Oke-Ijebu, in Akure, the state capital.
The main event will take place on Monday at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, where Governor Aiyedatiwa and Deputy Governor Adelami will be formally sworn into office. After the swearing-in, a gala night and a book presentation will follow at The Dome, Ondo’s International Centre for Culture & Events.
In a separate announcement, Governor Aiyedatiwa has also lifted the restriction on movement during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday.
However, he urged residents to continue with the sanitation activities and ensure their environments are clean.
