In preparation for the 2025 Ileya (Eid-el-Kabir) festivities, the Oyo State Government has provided festive commodity packages to 2,500 civil and public servants across the state.
The distribution took place on Saturday at the Agricultural Credit Corporation premises in Total Garden, Ibadan, and was led by the corporation’s Chairman, Taofeek Akeugbagold.
The support packages included rams, bags of rice, vegetable oil, and other food items, all offered at subsidised rates significantly lower than prevailing market prices.

According to Akeugbagold, this initiative is part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to the welfare of state workers, particularly during festive periods.
He revealed that more than 5,000 workers have benefitted from the scheme since its inception. Beneficiaries are expected to repay the cost over three months through salary deductions under a structured repayment plan.
Highlighting the recent surge in prices of essential goods, Akeugbagold said the intervention was aimed at cushioning the economic burden on workers during the festive season.
“Governor Makinde instructed us to ease the financial strain on workers, enabling them to celebrate the festival joyfully despite prevailing economic challenges,” he said.
He added that the government plans to expand the initiative in future editions to include more workers as part of its broader strategy to foster inclusive economic support and social stability.
One of the beneficiaries, Kunle Adeyemo, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that the assistance would allow his family to celebrate Ileya with dignity and happiness.
