A passenger who allegedly assaulted Ibom Air officials on a flight from Uyo to Lagos has been charged to court and remanded at the Kirikiri correctional facility.
The passenger, identified as Comfort Emmanson, was reportedly charged following a widely circulated video showing her in a physical altercation with flight attendants and airport security.
The incident, according to Ibom Air, began when Emmanson refused to turn off her mobile phone before takeoff. When a fellow passenger switched off the phone for her, she began a verbal confrontation.

Upon arrival in Lagos, Emmanson is accused of physically assaulting the purser who had initially asked her to switch off her phone.
Ibom Air said her actions posed a “serious threat to the safety of its crew, passengers, and aircraft.” As a result, the airline has imposed a travel restriction, banning her from flying on any of its flights.
The news was confirmed by Tunde Moshood, special adviser to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in a post on X.
This development comes as the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) stated it would increase enforcement actions to curb unruly passenger behavior at Nigerian airports.
