Paul Adefarasin, the senior pastor and founder of House on the Rock, has responded to a viral clip that showed him holding what many believed to be a pistol.
The short video began trending on social media on Friday after it was shared by a user on X.
The original poster credited a Lagos-based content creator known for documenting luxury vehicles.

According to the post’s caption, Adefarasin allegedly displayed a firearm when the videographer tried to capture footage of his car.
In the 10-second recording, a black Range Rover is seen approaching the person filming. As the car comes to a stop, its tinted window lowers, revealing Adefarasin inside.
The individual behind the camera greets the pastor with a salute.
Adefarasin appears to respond with a stern expression and a brief, inaudible remark, during which he seems to display an object that many online have speculated was a gun. The content creator quickly apologizes before the vehicle pulls away.
The clip has drawn widespread attention online, with numerous users condemning the cleric for allegedly possessing a weapon.
However, in a statement released on Saturday evening, Adefarasin refuted those claims.
“You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm,” the statement reads. “I want to assure you of this — that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”
He added that he intends to address the incident further during Sunday’s church service, referring to the matter as “mischief.”
