The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the appointment of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, as Chairman of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) for its highly anticipated 2025 National Convention scheduled for August 28–30.
The decision was made during the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC)’s 99th meeting held in Abuja, where members unanimously endorsed Governor Fintiri’s leadership, citing his outstanding track record and deep commitment to the party’s principles.

In an official statement late Friday, the PDP described the appointment as “well-deserved,” noting that it reflects “the confidence and trust the party places in his exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to fostering unity and progress within the PDP.”
Governor Fintiri is no stranger to national party leadership, having successfully chaired the PDP’s 2021 National Convention, an event widely praised for its smooth execution and organizational excellence.
His new role places him at the helm of another critical party milestone as the PDP prepares for the 2027 general elections.
“Governor Fintiri’s selection… reflects the confidence and trust the party places in his exceptional leadership,” the PDP said.
“His prior experience successfully chairing the 2021 National Convention, coupled with his transformative governance in Adamawa State, positions him as the ideal leader to steer the party toward a successful and impactful convention.
“Fintiri’s governance in Adamawa has been marked by rapid socio-economic progress, earning him national recognition. His tenure has been characterized by a pragmatic and inclusive leadership style, which the PDP believes will translate seamlessly into organizing a convention that will define the party’s next chapter.
“Under Governor Fintiri’s leadership, Adamawa State has witnessed remarkable socio-economic development, earning him widespread acclaim as a visionary leader,” the PDP added.
“His inclusive and pragmatic approach to governance has not only transformed Adamawa but also elevated his profile as a national figure within the PDP.”
The 2025 National Convention is expected to be a defining event for the PDP, setting the stage for key strategic decisions and leadership selections ahead of the next electoral cycle.
“The appointment is a testament to his dedication to the party’s ideals and his ability to navigate complex political landscapes with finesse,” the party concluded.
