Peter Obi meets ex-AGF Malami in Abuja amid coalition talks

Date:

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), met on Wednesday with former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, at the latter’s office in Abuja.

Malami, who held the AGF position from 2015 to 2023, hosted Obi in what appears to be part of broader political consultations.

Photos of the meeting were shared on X by Yunusa Tanko, interim national coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide. In his post, Tanko described the meeting as part of ongoing efforts to build alliances and rally support for Obi’s vision.

“Today, June 25, 2025, the Obidient Movement has attracted another senior figure,” Tanko wrote, adding that the engagement reflects Obi’s continued push to “build bridges and liberate Nigerians from hunger and hardship.”

Speaking to TheCable later in the day, Tanko clarified that while Malami has expressed interest in the movement, he has not formally joined.

The Obidient Movement Worldwide is a grassroots coalition backing Peter Obi’s political ambitions.
