The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old suspect, Usman Sagiru, in connection with the alleged murder of a vigilante member and an attack on the convoy of Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II following Eid prayers on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Haruna Kiyawa, the incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. as the Emir’s convoy was dispersing from the Eid prayer ground.

The statement revealed that Sagiru, along with others who remain at large, allegedly attacked Surajo Rabiu, a vigilante from Sabon Titi Jaba Quarters, stabbing him fatally.

Rabiu later succumbed to his injuries. Another vigilante, Aminu Suleman from Kofar Mata Quarters, was injured during the attack and is currently receiving medical care at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, while protecting the Emir.

The Command has also reiterated its strict ban on all forms of Durbar celebrations, warning that any individuals caught participating in such activities will face legal repercussions.
