Police nab man with locally-made pistol in Ogun, begin probe

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Salako Abass, for illegal possession of a locally-made pistol.

Officers of the Onipanu division of the state command arrested the suspect around 11:30 am on Tuesday.

It is unclear the motive of the suspect who was nabbed at a bus stop in the Idiroko area of the division.

“He was arrested for unlawful possession of locally made pistol on Tuesday by the anti-robbery team that was on on patrol along Idiroko road at Obansojo bus stop,” a police source told our reporter.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest to our reporter.

She said, “The police arrested one Salako Abass, male, of No 44 Ilaro Road, Owode Yewa, Ogun State with a locally made pistol and two live cartridges.”

She added that the anti-robbery team is investigating the suspect. “Exhibit will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran for further investigations.”
