Former presidential aide and social commentator, Reno Omokri, has stirred heated debate across social media platforms and public discourse following a provocative statement on marriage dynamics, gender roles, and ideal age gaps between spouses.
In a post on Facebook on Tuesday monitored by Breakingng.com, Omokri advised men against marrying women of the same age or younger by only a few years, citing religious, biological, and sociocultural reasoning.

“As much as possible, think twice before you marry a woman your age or even a bit younger than you. Take a cue from the first marriage. God created Adam. And Adam was already well settled and established in age at the Garden of Eden before God created Eve for him. They were not age mates or even in the same age bracket. At all!” he stated.

Omokri argued that beyond emotional compatibility, marriage must account for biological realities, particularly a man’s long-term sexual virility versus a woman’s biological clock.
“Marriage is beyond love and your emotions. As a man, you are also a biological being with bodily needs. Except you are a breasted hermaphrodite Ruffian who works at Arise,” he added, in a controversial dig that has been widely criticized as derogatory and offensive.

He further elaborated on the biological divergence in aging, suggesting that men remain sexually active longer, while women face menopause around mid-life, leading to a possible mismatch if couples are of similar age.
“All things being equal, you will be virile and libidinous until your nineties. Women are not biologically built that way. They reach menopause in their forties. What will you do then? Become celibate and risk prostate cancer? Are you happy with the prostate cancer epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa? Or engage in extramarital affairs?” Omokri queried.
To mitigate such issues, Omokri recommended a significant age gap between husband and wife, suggesting a 10-15 year difference as ideal.
“These are the things you should consider before taking a spouse because there are bodily consequences to adopting a wholly Western way of life. What is an ideal age gap between man and wife? Ten to fifteen years is ideal. Especially if you desire a long life,” he claimed.
“Please fact-check me: Men who marry significantly younger women tend to live longer than males who marry their age mates or a few years younger. But to wed your senior in age is to play Russian Roulette!”
Citing royal examples, Omokri referenced the British monarchy, noting, “Queen Camilla is older than King Charles III. I do not want to say more out of deep respect for the British Royal Family.”
His comments have triggered a wave of backlash from gender equality advocates, media professionals, and the general public. Critics accuse Omokri of promoting outdated, patriarchal views and using religion to justify ageist and sexist ideas.
