In a seamless and historic affirmation of his leadership, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been named the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.
Soludo, the only aspirant in the race, clinched the nomination unopposed at the APGA governorship primary held Saturday at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
The announcement came as Returning Officer Uche Nwegbo declared the results:
“Out of 3,260 delegates eligible to vote, 3,175 were accredited, with 3,172 casting their votes.
“Four votes were invalid. Prof. Chukwuma Soludo received an overwhelming 3,168 votes, with no opposing votes. By the powers vested in me, I hereby declare him the official candidate of our great party.”
Expressing deep gratitude, Soludo accepted the nomination with a powerful message of unity and progress.
“Anambra is APGA, and APGA is Anambra. I am deeply humbled by this historic display of solidarity and I accept this nomination wholeheartedly,” Soludo stated to a rousing applause from party members.
The governor, reflecting on APGA’s rich legacy of governance, highlighted the ongoing transformation in the state, promising that Anambra’s best days are still ahead.
“We are accomplishing all of this without borrowing a single Naira. We’ve only just begun, and trust me, Anambra has yet to see anything,” he emphasized.
Praising the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primary elections, Soludo thanked the party, support groups, and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) observers for their contributions in ensuring a transparent process.
In a significant move, Soludo also confirmed that his current deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, will remain his running mate for the 2025 elections.
“If it’s not broken, why mend it?” he quipped, affirming their effective partnership over the past years.
Looking ahead to the upcoming electoral contest, Soludo exuded confidence in securing a sweeping victory.
“We are determined to win all 21 local governments, all 326 wards, and possibly even every polling unit. This is more than just an election; it’s a statement of our commitment to continue the great work we’ve started,” he declared boldly.
