Tinubu appoints MKO Abiola’s son, Jami’u, SSA on linguistics and foreign matters

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Jami’u Abiola, son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola (MKO), as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Linguistics and Foreign Matters.

The announcement was made by George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), in a statement issued on Wednesday.

Jami’u is the son of MKO Abiola, the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, and Kudirat Abiola, who was assassinated during efforts to reclaim the annulled mandate.

Jami’u previously served as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President.

The appointment takes effect from November 14, 2024.

In his new position, Jami’u is expected to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leveraging his expertise to strengthen Nigeria’s foreign relations and address linguistics-related matters.

“This is in line with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended,” the statement reads.

Tinubu tasked Jami’u with bringing his wealth of experience to bear on the job to enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic and linguistic engagements.
