President Bola Tinubu has approved an immediate swap of the pro-chancellors and chairpersons of the governing councils for the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) and Federal University, Lokoja.
Under the new arrangement, Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), previously serving as the pro-chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, will now take on the same role at FUOYE. Similarly, Kayode Ojo, who held the pro-chancellor position at FUOYE, has been reassigned to Lokoja.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, explained that the reshuffle aligns with President Tinubu’s vision to promote diversity and national cohesion in the leadership of federal universities.
“This strategic change is part of President Tinubu’s initiative to foster diversity and national cohesion in the management of the country’s universities,” the statement added.
Additionally, the president recently dissolved the governing board of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, Anambra State, citing irregularities in the appointment of an “unqualified” vice-chancellor.
As part of this decision, Tinubu approved the removal of the new vice-chancellor, Bernard Odoh, and the registrar, Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike.
