“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns to Abuja today after his two-nation visit to Saint Lucia and Brazil,” the presidential aide stated.
President Tinubu embarked on the journey on Saturday, June 28, as part of a broader foreign policy initiative aimed at expanding Nigeria’s global partnerships, particularly with regions that have previously seen limited diplomatic engagement.
The first leg of the trip took him to Saint Lucia, where he embarked on a historic mission to strengthen relations and explore new areas of cooperation with Caribbean nations.
During his stay in Saint Lucia, the Nigerian leader engaged with heads of state and government within the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), underscoring Nigeria’s renewed interest in fostering Caribbean relations and enhancing South-South collaboration.
From there, he traveled to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro.
On the margins of the summit, President Tinubu met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Both leaders co-chaired the Nigeria-Brazil high-level bilateral talks, focusing on strategies to enhance trade, infrastructure development, and cultural ties between the two influential nations.
With his arrival back in Abuja, attention is expected to pivot toward internal governance matters, particularly the implementation of key diplomatic and economic commitments secured during the tour.
