During an interview on the Mic On podcast, House of Representatives Committee on Customs and Excise Chairman Leke Abejide stated that President Bola Tinubu would win a significant number of states in Nigeria if former President Goodluck Jonathan were to run against him in the 2027 presidential election.
Abejide, who represents the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, claimed that Tinubu would win over 32 states, losing only in Anambra and Ebonyi.

Former President Jonathan, who served one term before his defeat in 2015, has been the subject of speculation regarding a potential run for the presidency in 2027.
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, chieftain said: “My prayer is that they should run like that (different political platforms) and Asiwaju will win 32 states.
“He may lose maybe Anambra, Abia, he will win Ebonyi; he may win more than 32 states.”
On Tinubu being popular, he said: “I just came from Kano, I was in Kano on Wednesday and I slept there. I came to Kaduna by road yesterday morning.
“No insecurity, the road is very good, then I came by train to Abuja this morning and I can tell you that people are happy.”
