Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, has taken to social media to mock opposition figures after the poor performance of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the recently concluded by-elections.
In a post on his X account on Monday morning, Onanuga shared a photo of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The image was captioned with a taunting question: “How is the market now?”

The comment is widely seen as a jab at the opposition, whose relevance and strength have been a subject of renewed debate in the wake of the by-elections. It was previously reported that the opposition figures, who have signaled intentions to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, used the ADC to test their popularity.
The by-election results saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) secure the majority of the seats, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) also recorded some victories.
The ADC, however, failed to make a significant impact.
