A 19-year-old woman has tragically died following a dog attack at a flat in south Bristol, police confirmed. The incident occurred around 7:00 PM GMT on Wednesday at a property on Cobhorn Drive.
Two individuals, a man and a woman in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act, including the possession of a prohibited breed.
Authorities have seized the dog involved, and experts will assess it to determine its breed. While early reports suggested it may be an XL Bully, police have stated it is too early to confirm.
The attack has raised further concern, as it brings to mind the 2017 case where a dangerous dog attacked 12 children in a UK park, leading to a woman’s imprisonment.
Insp. Terry Murphy of Avon and Somerset Police extended his condolences to the victim’s family.

“Our thoughts, first and foremost, are with the family of the young woman who’s tragically died as a result of yesterday evening’s incident,” he said. “A full investigation is now well underway to establish the full circumstances of the events that led to her death.”
Murphy also assured local residents that there will be an increased police presence in the area in the coming days.
Neighbours recounted a significant emergency response at the scene. Doreen Tovey, a local resident, described the event as “very frightening.”
“I came out of my house to see what all the commotion was,” she said. “There were loads of police cars, a riot van, and an ambulance across the road from me.”
Floral tributes have been left at the scene in memory of the young woman.
