Social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has publicly declared his backing for Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, should he decide to run for the Lagos State governorship in 2027.
Although neither Seyi Tinubu nor his father has made any official announcements regarding the younger Tinubu’s candidacy, various groups have already expressed support for him to contest for the position.
In a video shared on Instagram on Friday, VeryDarkMan explained why he would wholeheartedly support Seyi in his political ambitions, viewing his potential candidacy as a step towards a generational shift in Nigerian politics.
“If Seyi Tinubu decides to run for governor, I’m going to campaign for him. I don’t do politics, but I’ll do politics for him,” said the 39-year-old influencer.
He emphasised that Seyi’s candidacy could offer a fresh perspective and an opportunity for young people to take charge of political offices, noting that with Seyi set to turn 42 by 2027, he could become the youngest governor in Lagos’ history.

VeryDarkMan also spoke on the political influence Seyi may already possess, suggesting that the younger Tinubu could be building a network of loyalists in key positions who will help further his political agenda.
He speculated that Seyi’s allies are likely to be younger individuals, as they would be easier to manage and align with his vision, unlike older politicians who may prove more challenging to control.
The controversial figure further predicted that if Seyi becomes Lagos’ governor, he could potentially use his influence to propel his supporters into key political roles across the country, which could lead to a new wave of leadership.
According to VeryDarkMan, this shift could even prompt a rebellion from younger political figures, ultimately benefiting Nigeria in the long run.
As the political scene continues to evolve, many eyes will be on Seyi Tinubu to see if he indeed follows in his father’s footsteps and makes a bid for Lagos’ highest office in 2027.
