On Tuesday, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), expressed deep regret over the United States’ decision to withdraw from the global health body.
This announcement follows a dramatic move by U.S. President Donald Trump, who signed an executive order officially pulling the U.S. out of the WHO.
The decision marks a significant shift in the U.S.’s relationship with the international health organization, which has been at the forefront of global efforts to tackle health crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Tedros emphasized the importance of global cooperation in addressing health challenges and underscored the WHO’s role in providing support to nations worldwide.

“The organisation hopes that Washington will change its decision.
“We hope the United States will reconsider and we look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue to maintain the partnership between the USA and WHO, for the benefit of the health and well-being of millions of people around the globe.’’
