The family of late highlife music legend Mike Ejeagha has confirmed that he was buried less than a day after his passing, in strict adherence to his personal request.
His eldest son, Emmanuel Ejeagha Jr., revealed in a phone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the decision was in fulfillment of his father’s dying wish.

According to him, the veteran musician, who passed away on Friday night at the age of 95, had insisted he should not be embalmed or subjected to a prolonged burial process.
“I contacted members of my family and informed them that my father made a wish that he should be laid to rest 24 hours after his death.
“I also summoned a meeting of my kindred, and we discussed extensively, and even Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State was informed about it, and they all consented that whatever his wish was should be kept.
“There are a lot of consequential results if an elder said something and otherwise was done,” he said.
Ejeagha was interred on Saturday at his hometown, Umuagba, Imezi-Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Details of his formal funeral rites will be announced at a later date.
