Woman who gave fake testimony arraigned, granted bail

Date:

A 32-year-old woman, Loveth Helen Alo, has been arraigned in court for allegedly lying about buying a N500m duplex.

She claimed during a testimony at the Zion Prayer Ministry Movement Outreach in Lagos that God had blessed her with the acquisition of the property.

However, it was later discovered that she didn’t own the five-bedroom duplex located at the WTC Estate in Enugu.

The spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement on Tuesday, said, “Detectives from the Enugu State Police Command attached to the Legal Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, on February 1, 2025, arrested the suspect following a petition alleging that she falsely claimed ownership of a five-bedroom duplex located at the WTC Estate, Enugu.”

During interrogation, she confessed to the crime, admitting that she acted alone. She’s been charged with five counts, including obtaining by false pretence with intent to defraud, defamation of character, and attempting to commit a felony by trying to sell the property.

The case has been adjourned to April 9, 2025, for further hearing, and Alo has been granted bail.
