Zamfara APC youths rejects Gov Lawal’s alleged alignment with Tinubu

Date:

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Forum in Zamfara State has rejected what it describes as Governor Dauda Lawal’s alleged attempts to align himself with President Bola Tinubu and the APC, labeling the move as political opportunism.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the forum’s chairman, Musa Adams, accused the governor who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of governing in a divisive manner that has weakened unity and neglected critical development issues in the state.

Adams alleged that Lawal has recently made overtures to the APC by inviting party leaders to state functions in a bid to gain favor, a strategy the forum considers insincere and self-serving.

“Zamfara APC remains strong and poised to deliver Asiwaju again in 2027, Insha Allah,” Adams said, dismissing the governor’s outreach as unnecessary.

He further criticized Lawal for failing to address the rising insecurity and poverty in rural communities while reportedly harboring resentment towards APC figures particularly after former Governor Bello Matawalle was appointed Minister of State for Defence.

“We do not support Dauda Lawal’s involvement with the APC or President Tinubu’s campaign,” Adams stated firmly.

The forum also noted that the APC currently dominates Zamfara’s federal representation, holding two of the state’s three Senate seats and five of seven seats in the House of Representatives.

While calling on the federal government to intensify efforts in tackling security and socio-economic challenges in the state, the youth group maintained that Governor Lawal’s support is neither required nor welcome for the APC’s future electoral success.
