Zulum donates N300m to families of fallen soldiers in boko haram fight

Date:

Babagana Umara Zulum, the governor of Borno State, expressed his deep appreciation and announced a pledge of N300 million to assist the families of soldiers who have lost their lives in the battle against Boko Haram militants.

He made this commitment during the 2025 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Operation Desert Sanity 2 Medal Parade in N’Djamena, Chad, where he also reiterated his ongoing support for the sacrifices made by the nation’s armed forces.
The funds will be directed through the “Tribute to Our Troops Charity Foundation,” an initiative spearheaded by the Chief of Defence Staff to provide support to the families of fallen and injured soldiers.

Governor Zulum, speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of recognizing the selfless contributions of the military in safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty. “These brave individuals gave their lives for our safety. The least we can do is ensure their families are well supported,” he stated. “Borno, being the epicenter of the insurgency, should lead in this act of remembrance and support.”

While acknowledging the significant decline in insurgency in the North East, Zulum urged the military to remain vigilant and ramp up efforts to eradicate the remaining elements of Boko Haram, particularly in the Lake Chad region, where pockets of insurgent activity continue to pose a threat.
