Adeleke’s defection to APC would be a political misstep — Oyinlola

Date:

Former Osun State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has raised concerns over reports suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke may be considering joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Adeleke recently declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, fueling speculation about a potential party switch.

Speaking during a Thursday appearance on Arise TV’s Prime Time, Oyinlola warned that such a move could prove detrimental to Adeleke’s political career.

“APC has not fared well with the people of Osun,” he said.

“Telling him to roll over to APC will mean ruining his political future. Obviously, the people will not go along with that. He knows that, but there is pressure on him.”

Oyinlola, a former Military Governor of Lagos State also pointed to unresolved governance issues in the state, particularly the non-disbursement of local government allocations for the past six months.

“It’s now six months since the local government allocation in Osun state has been withheld, which means the people of Osun state have been shortchanged because the local government is no longer running,” he stated.

He urged the governor to take decisive action in addressing these challenges, noting that Adeleke holds the public’s trust and must work to ensure effective governance at all levels.
