In a bold and symbolic exchange of political metaphors, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to a statement by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, in which he described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “faulty airplane” unfit for travel.
The APC, in turn, welcomed the governor’s remarks as a subtle endorsement of the ruling party’s competence and readiness to govern.

Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, issued a statement on Wednesday night lauding Governor Eno’s analogy, interpreting it as an acknowledgment of the PDP’s structural failures and internal dysfunction.

“We couldn’t agree more that Plane PDP has become demonstrably inoperable and unsafe for travel,” Morka declared. “As safety and comfort are prerequisite conditions for flying, our great Party assures the Governor that Plane APC is fit and ready to fly His Excellency and entourage to their desired destination.”
Governor Eno, during a recent public event, had likened the PDP to an aircraft no longer capable of taking off safely — a remark that stirred speculation about his political future and the stability of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State.
Though the governor did not indicate any intention to leave the party, his choice of words provided fertile ground for interpretation.
The APC seized the moment, extending an open invitation to Eno to switch allegiance, assuring him of a smooth political journey under their banner.
“Our pilots and crew are highly competent, welcoming, attentive to detail, and on standby to serve,” Morka stated. “We assure Governor Eno that a flight with us will be a mighty good ride to remember.”
The statement underscores the APC’s ongoing efforts to consolidate its influence in states traditionally held by the PDP, particularly in the South-South region.
Political observers say the metaphor-laden exchange reflects deeper undercurrents of discontent within the PDP, and could be an early signal of realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
So far, Governor Eno has not publicly responded to the APC’s overture.
However, the political aircraft metaphor now looms large over Akwa Ibom’s political airspace, with citizens and analysts alike watching closely to see which runway the governor ultimately chooses.
