Appeal court upholds Aiyedatiwa’s victory in Ondo guber election

The Court of Appeal in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has upheld the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who contested as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the November 16, 2024, governorship election.

It will be recalled that Governor Aiyedatiwa was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with over 366,000 votes on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), defeating former deputy governor Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who came second with 117,000 votes, and 15 other candidates.

Aiyedatiwa a former deputy governor of the state was sworn in as governor on December 27, 2023 following the death of his predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu on December 12, 2023.
