Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has said that President Bola Tinubu is arrogant, claiming that the election which officially produced Tinubu as Nigeria’s 16th president, was not an accurate reflection of the people’s choice.
According to him, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s candidate, emerged as the true winner of the 2023 presidential election.
He said this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Tonight on Monday.

Lawal claimed that the facts and figures in his possession showed that Obi, not President Tinubu, secured the majority of votes.
Lawal, a known critic of the current administration, did not mince words, declaring that President Tinubu “didn’t win the election” and stressing that “the result available to him at that time showed he didn’t win the election.”
“The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I’m the one that offended him. I didn’t offend him, he offended me and he is full of himself, and he thinks that he now so-called president… I believe he didn’t win the election,” Lawal said.
Explaining the basis of his position, the former SGF revealed that he and his team closely tracked the electoral process, gathering data and monitoring results directly from polling units.
According to him, discrepancies arose because “some of the results were altered.”When pressed on what specific offence President Tinubu committed against him, Lawal responded, “He is arrogant. The guy has an arrogance that belies definitions.”
