Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative Party, is facing a tough time convincing voters of her potential as a Prime Minister.
According to a recent YouGov poll, only 48% of Conservative Party voters believe she has what it takes to be a good PM. This is despite 56% of 2024 Tory voters approving of her job performance.
Badenoch’s hardline stance on immigration seems to be a major factor in these doubts. She has proposed that immigrants should live in the UK for, at least, 15 years before being eligible for a British passport.
This move has been met with skepticism, with only 14% of voters across the entire population believing she has the qualities necessary to be Prime Minister.
The poll also reveals that 39% of voters from Labour, Lib Dem, and Reform UK consider her untrustworthy, while 39% find her dislikable. However, 19% of voters consider her trustworthy, and 24% find her likable.
These numbers are certainly grim reading for Badenoch and the Tories, especially considering they’ve been pushed to third place for potential voters behind Reform UK and Labour.
