Dumebi Kachikwu alleges plot to sell ADC structure to Atiku

Date:

Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has raised serious allegations against unnamed party members, accusing them of accepting inducements to surrender their positions ahead of the party’s national convention, in what he described as a grand plot to hand over the party structure to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In an interview on Channels Television on Sunday monitored by Breakingng.com, Kachikwu claimed that a calculated internal coup is underway within the ADC, as individuals are allegedly being offered various sums of money to vacate their offices at the state and local government levels, months before the next convention.

“Some members are being induced, being offered different sums of money for them to relinquish their positions before the convention is due sometime next year, so that they can put in place a new structure across the country — states and local government structures across the country,” Kachikwu revealed.

He further alleged that the entire orchestration is aimed at repackaging the ADC to serve as a political vehicle for Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Like I have, like I said, and I warned, the whole ADC structure is being packaged for the former Vice President Atikwa Abubakar,” he stated.

Kachikwu also claimed that members of the broader opposition coalition, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, are beginning to realize the extent of the alleged manipulation.

“So like, Mr. Peter Obi now understands that that whole coalition was packaged for Atikwa Abubakar. And what we’re seeing now is that he’s looking in other directions, you know, and other people who want to run, who are aspiring to run now realise that the coalition was indeed no coalition, it was just a vehicle for Atikwa Abubakar’s ambition,” he added.

While distancing himself and the ADC from the alleged plan, Kachikwu was emphatic in his rejection of any attempt to use the party as a tool for external political ambitions.

“But I still say this, the ADC will never be the vehicle for that, for that ambition,” he declared.

When asked whether the political storm could still be stopped or reversed, Kachikwu was less optimistic, suggesting the damage may already have been done.

“It’s a storm that doesn’t look like it’s going to be, it can be stopped. The storm has already been contained,” he concluded.
